Historic downtown in Forest Grove

Downtown Forest Grove sits along Main Street, in the oldest part of the city. This page reports only what official sources state.

Oregon Main Street

Oregon Main Street is a state program run through Oregon Parks and Recreation. In a state news release dated February 29, 2024, Oregon Main Street said it had accepted the City Club of Forest Grove at the Affiliated Main Street level. Before that, Forest Grove took part at the Connected Communities level through the city. The release says the city had been exploring the right structure for its main street effort and found a willing partner in the City Club.

The city's role

The City of Forest Grove keeps the public calendar of city events and meetings, the library and the parks pages. We did not find a dedicated downtown or history page on the city's home page, so check the calendar for current events.

A little history

Wikipedia reports that the town was platted around 1850, adopted the name Forest Grove for its post office on December 31, 1858, and was incorporated in 1872.
